Body Fat Measurement:

Measures the percentage of fat your body contains. The average adult male body fat composition is between 15% and 18% and 22%-25% for females.

TIP: By just reducing your caloric intake by 500 calories/day and adding 20 minutes of aerobic activity, you can create the right balance to decease body fat. To determine your body composition come in for a FREE body composition assessment.

Body Mass Index (BMI)

Estimates how much you should weigh, based on your height.

  • Underweight <18.5
  • Normal weight between 18.5-24.9
  • Overweight between 25-29.9
  • Obesity >30

TIP: Estimate your BMI: weight in pounds ÷ (height in inches) 2 x 703 1 foot =12 inches

Waist Hip Ratio

Determines where you have a tendency to hold your body fat
(ie. are you an apple—weight around your waist
pear shape – weight around your hips and thighs)

TIP: Those with apple shapes have are greater risk of potentially having lifestyle related issues such as heart disease and diabetes. Estimate your waist hip ratio –

  1. measure the circumference of your hips at the widest part of your buttocks
  2. measure your natural waist just above the belly button
  3. divide your waist measurement by your hip measurement
